Alien Lemonade
by Jordan, Age 10

On a hot summer day, Andrew Wilson was in the back yard on the swing when he heard his mom.
“Andrewwwww!” his mother called. “Can you go out with the supplies and clean your dad’s hotdog stand?”
“Yes, Mom!” Andrew’s mind went crazy. Andrew’s dad never let anyone go near the hotdog stand except customers, but Andrew did it anyway.
One hour later, he heard his dad’s car pull up. He thought he might get in trouble, so he left the cleaning supplies and ran upstairs to his bedroom. And he heard his dad calling him, and he thought, oh, I’m in trouble now.
His dad’s voice came closer and closer…his door opened. And his dad had an angry face and said, “Don’t leave your watch on the stairs. Someone could trip over it and hurt themselves.”
A relief flowed through Andrew. Whoo! That’s a relief!
Then his mom came to his bedroom and said, “Sorry, I forgot your dad doesn’t want anyone near his hotdog stand.
“It’s all right,” Andrew said, but he really wanted to say, “it’s not all right.” But, what could he do, punish her?
Then, his dad said, “Okay, I’m going to get the hotdog stand and go to the park. Do you want to come with me, Andrew?”
“Yes,” said Andrew. He got his bike from the far corner of the garage, but while he was getting it, he wondered how he was going to sneak the supplies from his dad without him noticing it. They were in the storage compartment of the hotdog stand.
While people were buying hotdogs, he grabbed the supplies and shoved the wet sponge into one pocket, and the spray can into the other. Then his dad said, “What is in your pocket?”
“Oh, um, nothing. A book?”
His father gave him a really stern look and said, “It must be a really wet book! But, okay.” He moved onto the next customer in line.
Then, Andrew saw it. An alien wearing a Hawaiian shirt with shorts was grooming his tail. It looked at him.At first Andrew thought he was seeing a mirage, and then he rubbed his eyes in astonishment.
Then the alien came up and asked if Andrew had seen a green lemonade stand. Andrew said, “No, why do you ask?”
“Because I need to get some souvenirs, or mom will kill me. She spent twenty quallars to get us here and if we do not get her something, she’s going to be furious and say she’s never going to bring us here again! Don’t you have anything I can give to my mom?”
“Yeah, I have a spray can and a wet sponge.”
The alien took them from him, then held and twisted the sponge, manipulating it. He used the spray can to spray into the air. “Ohhhhh, moisturizer. I’ll take it!”
